On Friday, December 12, at approximately 3:30 p.m., Mohave County Sheriff’s Office Deputies, along with the San Bernardino County Fire Department fireboat, responded to the mouth of the Colorado River following reports of a single-vessel collision.
Upon arrival, deputies learned that three occupants had been pulled from the water by Good Samaritans prior to emergency personnel arriving on scene. The vessel was found overturned and resting in approximately five feet of water.
The preliminary investigation indicates the southbound vessel struck a sandbar, causing it to flip and eject all occupants. As a result of the collision, all three occupants were transported by the San Bernardino County Fire Department fireboat to Lake Havasu State Park. From there, River Medical transported the occupants to Havasu Regional Medical Center for further treatment.
Two occupants sustained minor injuries, while one occupant sustained serious injuries.
Due to the severity of the collision, the vessel was taken into custody by the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office. The investigation is ongoing.
