The Lake Havasu City Police Department has confirmed that a juvenile who was rescued from the waters near the London Bridge Tuesday morning has died from his injuries.
At approximately 8:52 a.m. on Tuesday, August 11, bystanders reported seeing a male juvenile jump from the London Bridge. Witnesses said the juvenile briefly resurfaced before going underwater again.
Lake Havasu City Police and Fire personnel responded and immediately began searching the shoreline and surrounding waters. Civilian boat operators also assisted first responders by providing vessels for the search-and-rescue operation.
At approximately 9:12 a.m., the juvenile was located underwater and found unresponsive. Police and Fire personnel removed him from the water and onto a boat, where life-saving measures and advanced life support were immediately provided.
The juvenile was transported to Havasu Regional Medical Center in critical condition and was later airlifted to Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas for further medical treatment.
The Lake Havasu City Police Department was notified early Wednesday morning that the juvenile had succumbed to his injuries.
The incident remains under active investigation. Additional information will be released when it becomes available and can be appropriately disclosed.
