On December 9, 2025, Detective Michael Angelo was awarded the Innovation of the Year Award at the Arizona Sheriff’s Association 2025 Merit Awards Banquet.

This prestigious award recognizes a law enforcement professional who develops innovative processes, programs, or procedures that significantly improve investigations, operations, crime prevention, or public safety.

Detective Angelo was honored for creating new methods and advanced investigative frameworks that have dramatically strengthened the ability to identify child predators, secure critical digital evidence, and bring offenders to justice. As part of this mission, he built a state-of-the-art computer forensics lab, fully equipped with cutting-edge technology—funded entirely through RICO Act (Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations) seized assets.

Over the past year alone, Detective Angelo has been responsible for the investigation and arrest of approximately 19 individuals involved in the possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM).

The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office and Detective Angelo remain committed to innovation, adaptability, and dedication in this ongoing fight to protect our community.

👏 Congratulations, Detective Angelo!
Thank you for your diligence, resilience, and unwavering commitment to confronting darkness and keeping our community safe.
