BULLHEAD CITY, Ariz. — Bullhead City Police have arrested a 23-year-old Bullhead City man on charges related to making terrorist threats after an investigation revealed he was allegedly constructing an explosive device inside his residence.
According to Bullhead City Police, on Wednesday, May 6, detectives were alerted by the Yuma Prison Investigation Division regarding recorded inmate phone conversations referencing a family member, identified as Bryan Christopher Lee Chambers, making a bomb.
Detectives immediately launched an investigation. During a review of the prison audio transcripts, investigators reportedly uncovered conversations between the inmate and Chambers discussing hiding firearms and drugs prior to the inmate’s release from prison and potential probation searches at their home.
Additional conversations allegedly referenced an explosive device, including statements made by Chambers mentioning the Laughlin Bridge.
Based on the investigation, Bullhead City Police obtained a temporary felony warrant for making terroristic threats.
Police began surveillance on Chambers, and on Thursday, May 7, at approximately 5:30 a.m., officers arrested him in the 2500 block of Highway 95. Authorities say Chambers was found in possession of cocaine at the time of his arrest.
With assistance from the Bullhead City Police Department Bomb Squad, Explosives K9 Wilbur from Las Vegas Fire & Rescue, and Explosives K9 Reddick from BNSF Railway Police, detectives later executed a search warrant at Chambers’ residence in the 700 block of Church Street.
During the search, investigators reportedly located an explosive device, explosive-making materials, additional cocaine, and drug paraphernalia.
Bryan Chambers was booked into the Mohave County Jail in Kingman on charges of:
- Making terrorist threats
- Possession of dangerous drugs
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
This investigation remains ongoing.
