On Saturday, April 26, several Mohave County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) Patrol Boats were on duty near Site Six on Lake Havasu during the Desert Storm Shootout, an annual event authorized by the U.S. Coast Guard.

While patrolling the area, deputies observed a high-speed watercraft traveling down the designated course when it suddenly lost control and crashed. Multiple MCSO Deputies, Rescue Divers, and River Medical Paramedics—already aboard MCSO patrol boats—immediately responded.

Upon arrival, deputies found the vessel partially submerged. Two occupants were seen exiting the boat’s enclosed capsule and were quickly assisted onto a Mohave County Sheriff’s Office Rescue Boat. Both individuals were treated for minor injuries and transported to a nearby launch ramp, where an ambulance awaited.

Thanks to strict safety protocols in place for the sanctioned event, divers were in the water within 20 seconds of the crash, followed by additional public safety personnel.

Initial investigations determined the watercraft was traveling at approximately 210 miles per hour before losing control. Both occupants were equipped with full safety gear, including helmets, restraints, and life jackets.

As the crash occurred on a closed course during an authorized event with proper safety measures, no further investigation will be conducted.
