The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office has arrested Kevin Paul Barnes, 64, of Dolan Springs, on two felony counts of Attempted Homicide after a dangerous shooting incident late Saturday night.
On November 22 around 9:45 PM, deputies responded to the 15000 block of Pierce Ferry Rd. after reports of a man firing shots toward a business. The caller reported the suspect was positioned across the street in what appeared to be a “sniper-style position.” Deputies arrived quickly, located the armed suspect, and were able to detain him safely after he complied with commands.
Detectives say the situation began earlier at 9th St. and Havasu Rd., where Barnes was stopped with a flat tire. A man stopped to help, but Barnes allegedly became aggressive and began yelling at him. As the man drove away, Barnes reportedly fired a handgun at his vehicle.
The victim then saw Barnes leaving the area and attempted to get a license plate number. Barnes allegedly fired at him a second time.
Barnes drove to a nearby business, where the first victim rushed inside to warn patrons. As a woman approached the entrance, Barnes allegedly fired a 30-06 rifle toward them. He then crossed Pierce Ferry Rd., took cover behind a small wall, and fired another 4–5 rounds, striking an unoccupied vehicle in the parking lot.
Deputies and detectives evacuated the business. No injuries were reported.
