The Arizona Department of Public Safety is mourning the heartbreaking loss of two Aviation Bureau members who were killed in the line of duty on February 4, 2026.

Pilot Robert Bruce Skankey (#11056) and State Trooper/Paramedic Hunter R. Bennett (#11215) lost their lives when Ranger 56 crashed while responding to an active shooter incident in Flagstaff. Both men were serving the people of Arizona with courage, professionalism, and unwavering dedication.

Their sacrifice is a solemn reminder of the risks our first responders face every day to protect our communities.

We deeply appreciate the outpouring of love and support shown to the families and to AZDPS during this incredibly difficult time.

Community BBQ Fundraiser – Kingman

In honor of these fallen heroes, the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 32 Foundation and the Arizona State Troopers Association Charities are hosting a fundraising BBQ event, with 100% of proceeds and donations going directly to their families. All donations are tax deductible.
