Gear up for the 28th Annual Carrie Edgmon Bicycle Safety Rodeo! The event will be held on Saturday, March 2nd in the north Wal-Mart parking lot (2840 Highway 95) from 9 a.m. until 12 noon. The event is sponsored by the Bullhead City Police and Fire Departments, Wal-Mart and Western Arizona Regional Medical Center (WARMC).

A safety course will be set up for children to ride and put their safety skills and knowledge to the test. Children will learn the rules of the road from officers who will be on hand to help kids go through the safety course. Children are encouraged to bring their own bikes to receive free bicycle registration.

“If your bike is ever lost or stolen and you have registered your bicycle, we already have all your information in our police computer system, including the bike’s serial number and owner’s information,” said Community Services Officer Lorrie Duggins. “So, if your bike is recovered, we know who to return it to.”

Participants will receive a free bicycle inspection and tune-up by CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) volunteers. A special thanks to the Bullhead City Morning Kiwanis for donating all the bike parts. Loaner bikes will be available, and participants can enter a prize drawing to win new a bike. Plus, children will also receive a free helmet!
“Each child will be properly fitted by Bullhead City Fire Department personnel with their own helmet,” said Ms. Duggins. “We want to teach children at a young age the importance of wearing a properly fitted and buckled helmet, as it can prevent serious brain injuries in the event of a fall or crash.”

The Bike Safety Rodeo is open to the public at no cost. For more information contact the Bullhead City Police Department at (928) 763-9200.
