Bullhead City, AZ – As Independence Day approaches, the Bullhead City Fire Department encourages residents and visitors to celebrate responsibly and make safety a priority by following Bullhead City’s fireworks ordinance and remaining mindful of the area’s elevated fire danger.
The Bullhead City Fire Department strongly encourages everyone to leave fireworks to the professionals by attending one of the many public fireworks displays. For those who choose to use consumer fireworks, only permissible consumer fireworks are allowed within Bullhead City limits.
Permissible consumer fireworks include ground and hand-held sparkling devices, cylindrical fountains, cone fountains, illuminating torches, wheels, ground spinners, toy smoke devices, and wire sparklers or dipped sticks.
Fireworks that explode or launch into the air, including bottle rockets, sky rockets, Roman candles, aerial shells, and similar devices are prohibited within Bullhead City. Fireworks are also strictly prohibited at the Colorado River Nature Center and all designated natural areas.
While fireworks are a popular holiday tradition, residents are reminded that Bullhead City remains under year-round fire restrictions designed to reduce the risk of fires and protect lives, property, and natural resources. Open burning including the burning of weeds, yard debris, and trash is prohibited within Bullhead City Limits.
One of the leading causes of roadside fires is the improper disposal of smoking materials an entirely preventable hazard. Never throw cigarettes or other smoking materials from a moving vehicle. Motorists should also avoid parking over dry grass, as hot exhaust systems and catalytic converters can ignite vegetation. Additionally, ensure that vehicles and trailers are properly maintained, with no dragging chains, loose metal parts, or other mechanical issues that could create sparks.
With hot, dry conditions continuing throughout the summer, even a single spark can quickly develop into a dangerous wildfire. By following the City’s fireworks ordinance, adhering to year-round fire restrictions, and practicing safe fire prevention habits, everyone can help protect our community.
The Bullhead City Fire Department wishes everyone a safe and enjoyable Fourth of July holiday.
