Suspected DUI Turns Violent: Deputy Pushed Into Freeway Traffic on I-40

A Riverside man is in custody after a violent incident early Saturday morning that nearly turned deadly on Interstate 40.

According to authorities, deputies conducted a traffic stop near Five Mile Road when they observed signs of DUI. During the encounter, the suspect became combative and allegedly pushed a deputy into active freeway traffic.

Two semi-trucks passed dangerously close during the struggle, creating a life-threatening situation for both the deputy and the suspect.

Despite continued resistance, deputies were able to regain control and take the suspect into custody. He was treated for injuries at the scene and later booked into the High Desert Detention Center.

The suspect is currently being held on $1,000,000 bail and is facing attempted murder charges.
