On December 12, 1989, the body of a woman—stabbed multiple times and left in the desert near White Hills Road in Mohave County—was discovered. For decades, her identity remained unknown… until now.
Thanks to the tireless efforts of the Special Investigations Unit (SIU), the victim has been identified as Marina Ramos, a mother from Bakersfield, California, who vanished in 1989 along with her two infant daughters, Elizabeth (14 months) and Jasmin (2 months).
In a major breakthrough:
🔹 SIU confirmed Marina’s identity in 2022 using fingerprints submitted to NamUs.
🔹 Investigators then launched an extensive search for her missing daughters.
🔹 In August 2025, the girls—now grown women—were found alive after DNA matches confirmed their identities.
🔹 The sisters had been abandoned in a public park restroom in Oxnard, CA just two days after their mother’s murder.
🔹 They were rescued by a good Samaritan, placed in foster care, and later adopted together into a loving home in Ventura County.
But the case isn’t closed. Witnesses at the park in 1989 saw a Hispanic woman in a red skirt and white boots, along with two Hispanic males, with the children. The group left in a black mini pickup truck. These individuals are still wanted for questioning in the murder of Marina Ramos.
