On August 26, 2021, human remains were discovered beneath a concrete slab in the yard of a Dolan Springs property. The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office, working with the University of Arizona’s Department of Anthropology, determined the victim was a white or Hispanic male, over 40 years old, approximately 5’7”–5’9”, and buried for at least a decade. His death was ruled a homicide by gunshot wound.
Despite multiple attempts, the victim remained unidentified for years. In February 2023, Othram Inc., a Texas-based genetic lab, stepped in through Project Grace, providing advanced DNA analysis and forensic genealogy at no cost to the county. While genealogical leads initially did not produce an identity, investigators continued pursuing the case.
A major breakthrough came in July 2025 when a voicemail tip suggested the victim might be a man named Chett Williams, who had lived on North Drive in Dolan Springs around 1998–1999 before suddenly disappearing. According to the caller, Williams’ belongings were left behind, and soon after his disappearance, her parents poured a concrete slab at the residence.
Property records confirmed that the woman’s parents, Bea and Alvin Hamilton, owned the home where the remains were found. Further investigation revealed that Williams had indeed listed that address as his residence before vanishing. No records of him exist beyond 1999. Alvin Hamilton passed away in 2006, and Bea Hamilton in 2018.
This development marks a significant step forward in closing a decades-old mystery. The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding Williams’ death.
