The Bullhead City Police Department is urging the public to remain vigilant as investigators look into two alarming scam cases where local victims were tricked into handing over tens of thousands of dollars in cash.

In both cases, scammers posed as federal agents, using fake documents, threats, and fear tactics to convince the victims they were under investigation or that their bank accounts were compromised.

🔹 A 67-year-old woman said she was contacted via email and phone by someone claiming to be a federal fraud agent. She was accused of money laundering and shown fake documents appearing to be from the U.S. Supreme Court and DEA. The victim shared personal information, including her driver’s license and bank account details, before being instructed to withdraw large amounts of cash and hand them over to men who showed up at her home. One vehicle used was described as a brown Toyota Camry with blacked-out front windows and a California plate.

🔹 In a second case, a 73-year-old man was contacted by someone claiming to be from the Federal Trade Commission. Believing his bank account was compromised, he also shared sensitive information and was directed to withdraw a large sum of money, which was picked up by a man in a black shiny Jeep at his residence.

Both suspects were described as Asian adult males. No further vehicle details were provided, and no security cameras were available in either case.

🚫 The Police Department reminds residents:

• Be skeptical of unexpected calls, emails, or texts demanding money or information.

• Never share personal or banking details unless you initiated the contact through a verified source.

• If someone claims to be from a government agency, hang up and call the agency directly using official contact info.

• Scammers use fear and urgency — take time to think before acting.
