On Thursday, July 3, Mohave County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a residence in the 26000 block of N. Driftwood Drive in Meadview for a reported aggravated assault. The caller advised that a male subject had been stabbed and the suspect had fled the scene.
When deputies arrived, they located a male victim with multiple stab wounds. He was pronounced deceased by responding medical personnel. The victim has been identified as Kodey Sean Wheeler, 36, of Meadview.
Detectives were called in to take over the investigation. Through their investigation, they learned that the victim and the suspect, identified as Fred Dodge, 39, had been involved in a physical altercation that led to Wheeler being fatally stabbed. Dodge fled the scene but was later tracked to a motel in Nevada, where he was taken into custody on Monday, July 7.
Dodge is facing a charge of Second-Degree Murder and will be extradited back to Mohave County. Authorities also confirmed that Dodge was wanted in Nevada in connection with an unrelated homicide.
This investigation remains ongoing.
