Mohave County Sheriff’s Office Deputies are conducting a death investigation of a 13-year-old female who was involved in an off-road vehicle crash. On Wednesday (6/25) at approximately 7:55 PM, deputies responded to a private property in Cane Beds after receiving reports of the crash. Once on scene, responders from the Colorado City Fire Department advised the victim was deceased.
The investigation revealed that two female juveniles were riding in a side-by-side in a dirt field on private property. The passenger was hanging out of the passenger side while the driver was doing donuts. The driver turned sharply, causing the side-by-side to overturn and land on the passenger, causing fatal injuries. The driver was unable to get the side-by-side off of the passenger and ran approximately 1/4 mile to get help due to no cell service in the remote area.
Initial investigations revealed that neither the driver nor passenger were utilizing safety equipment at the time of the crash. The case will be sent to the Mohave County Attorney’s Office for review of possible charges. This investigation is ongoing.
