With the 2025–2026 school year underway, all Bullhead City School District (BCSD) students remain eligible for free breakfasts and lunches. The district qualifies for free meals under the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) based on district-wide income and demographics.

No free or reduced-price meal applications are required this year. All six BCSD campuses — Bullhead City Middle, Coyote Canyon, Desert Valley, Diamondback, Fox Creek Junior High, and Sunrise Elementary — are included for students in pre-kindergarten through 8th grade through May 21, 2026.

For many children, school meals provide their most reliable source of healthy food. BCSD participates in the federally funded Community Eligibility Provision (CEP), which allows qualifying schools in low-income areas to serve breakfast and lunch at no cost to all enrolled students.

Having taught for Bullhead City Schools, the free breakfast and lunch is mostly a waste of funding. The kids ate the least healthy items and threw out the healthier ones. It was sickening.
