The Bullhead City Police Department has received reports of a scam targeting local service providers.

Scammers are selecting vacant properties listed for sale in the Bullhead City area and reaching out to landscaping or painting companies for quotes. Once a quote is given, the scammer sends a fraudulent check for an amount greater than the quote and asks the business to deposit the check and send the extra funds to a second (fake) service provider.

After the funds are sent, the check is discovered to be fraudulent, leaving the business out of pocket.

Protect yourself:

⚠️ Never send funds to third parties you don’t know.

⚠️ Always verify who you’re doing business with.
