SCAM WARNING – The Bullhead City Police Department is warning the public of a scam where someone is impersonating law enforcement.

Local agencies have recently received fraud reports of a scammer stating he is a Lieutenant with the Sheriff’s Office and claims the individual has outstanding citations and/or warrants for their arrest. The scammer even goes as far as providing fraudulent subpoena paperwork. The caller ID number appears to be from a legitimate law enforcement agency.

Law enforcement will NEVER call and ask for money over the phone.

The Police Department reminds citizens to always be suspicious of calls, texts, emails or mail containing threats, advising they owe money or have won a prize. NEVER give out personal or bank account information or send money via any method unless YOU initiated the contact with the person or company. Simply hang up and call the number you know to be legitimate – even if the caller ID seems real!
