Special Release:

On Sunday (2/2) at approximately 6:50 PM, Mohave County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to a residence in the 5000 block of Aravaipa Pl. in reference to a disturbance. Upon arrival, the male suspect exited the residence and fired a weapon towards the Deputy. The Deputy returned fire and the suspect retreated to the inside of the residence. While backup deputies were responding, the suspect exited the residence without the firearm and was taken into custody. The suspect, identified as Edward Larence Chemleski (81 of Topock), was arrested for Attempted 2nd Degree Murder.

Detectives with the Kingman Police Department have been called in to conduct the investigation into the officer involved shooting. Neither the involved deputy nor the suspect was injured during this incident. The investigation is ongoing, and the name of the deputy is not being released at this time. All media inquiries should be directed to Deputy Chief Joel Freed with the Kingman Police Department at 928-753-2191 or email jfreed@cityofkingman.gov
