Last week, on Mother’s Day, an unidentified male was captured on surveillance approaching the rear of Meoni’s Restaurant, where he manually shut off the gas valve—an act that severely disrupted their ability to serve the hundreds of guests who had made reservations for the holiday.

This deliberate act appears to have been an intentional attempt to sabotage what is traditionally the restaurant’s busiest and most meaningful sales day. While Meoni’s has dealt with fake reservations, take-out pranks, and negative reviews over the years, this incident crosses a dangerous line.

Due to the shutoff, SW Gas had to perform an emergency response and full gas leak line test before service could be restored—causing a serious delay. Thankfully, no one was harmed, and safety remained the top priority.

Despite the setback, Meoni’s team pulled through, ultimately breaking their single-day sales record by serving over 800 customers. While some experienced delays, the restaurant responded with discounts and complimentary meals where needed, turning a sabotage attempt into a triumph.
