MOORESVILLE, Ind. (WXIX/Gray News) – A high school student in Indiana is accused of planning to kill masses of students at his school on Valentine’s Day.

Authorities said 18-year-old Trinity Shockley is facing conspiracy to commit murder and intimidation charges, Morgan County court records show.

Trinity Shockley, 18, is accused of planning to execute a mass shooting at his school high school in Indiana.

Authorities said the 18-year-old’s motivation for the school shooting was to prove to Nikolas Cruz that he was his “number one fan.” However, Shockley decided against the school shooting for several reasons:

  1. He did not want to be escorted to a police car afterward.
  2. He did not want to go to court and “listen to all the stuff.”
  3. He now wants to become a gun activist to get people “out of that mindset.”
  4. He would feel guilty about it.

Investigators said Shockley planned to commit the crime at lunchtime “because that would present the most target-rich environment.”

Investigators explained that Shockley identifies as a transgender man and often goes by Jamie or Dex.

The FBI obtained Discord messages between “Jamie” and another user, “TCC Mama.”

Jan. 12, 2025

Jamie: “Yeah. I’ll be honest. I’m close to shooting mine up. I have an AR-15.”

TCC Mama: “[Damn] OMD that’s so cool!! But wait, do you have a solid plan??”

Jamie: “Parkland part two. Of course. I’ve been planning this for a YEAR.”

TCC Mama: “You don’t plan on killing yourself right??”

Jamie: “No.”

TCC Mama: “Okay good Your secret is safe with me bro. Kids are awful And if you do carry it out good luck.”

Authorities said he collected bullets, magazines, protective gear and named at least one specific target.

A tipster reported the threat to the FBI’s Sandy Hook Tip Line, stating that the suspect had access to an AR-15, ordered a bulletproof vest, admires Nikolas Cruz and that he would kill his best friend in the shooting first.

Nearly one month later, Shockley sent another user, “Sasha,” a link to a photo of 10 Magpul AR-15 magazines and wrote, “I’m also buying a bulletproof vest,” court documents say.

He also sent photos of AR-15 rifles, a photo collage of Dylann Roof – the white supremacist and neo-Nazi who committed mass murder at a South Carolina church in 2015 – and continued to discuss his plan over Discord.

According to the probable cause, investigators found several pieces of evidence inside the home, specifically in the 18-year-old’s bedroom.

  • Photos on the wall of Trinity’s bedroom of Dylann Roof that matched the collage sent on Discord.
  • Another collage that had photos of Nikolas Cruz, who killed 17 people at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School on Valentine’s Day, Dylann Roof and Andrew Blaze, the Weis Markets employee who executed a murder-suicide at his place of employment in 2017.
  • A poster for a movie called “Zero Day.” The movie is about two boys who conduct a school shooting.
  • A poster of who the detective believes to be Dylann Roof.
  • On a bookshelf in his room, there was a framed photo of who the detective believes to be Dylann Roof.
  • Above the light switch, there was a photo of Nikolas Cruz.
  • On his laptop, there was background wallpaper of Nikolas Cruz at trial.
  • Another laptop was found in the closet.
  • A Mooresville Schools-issued Chromebook was found in Shockley’s backpack.
  • An iPhone that was located on the bookshelf and an iPhone that was on the top shelf of the closet.
  • Shockley’s backpack had three buttons on it, each depicting a photo of one of the three mass murderers.
  • Three notebooks were also found in Shockley’s backpack. Each one depicted swastikas, the words “kill,” “bang,” “I hate you all DIE DIE DIE” and other obscenities.
  • In Timothy Shockley’s room, there were AR-15 magazines and a box of 50 .40 caliber rounds.
  • A soft armor vest was located in the front room closet.

During an interview with investigators, Shockley mentioned having a mental breakdown at school Feb. 11 due to his mother’s recent passing from a drug overdose.

Shockley ended up skipping two classes and tried to talk to one of his teachers about it. The teacher was not available to talk, so he went to the school counselor.

When asked about his use of social media, Shockley said he would talk about hurting people “because of the rage he feels.” However, he did not mean it at all.

Authorities said Shockley asked for mental health resources multiple times and was denied them by her father, Timothy Shockley because he didn’t believe in “mental health treatment.”
